I have been trying to find God for most of my life….

Not in a casual way. Not as a cultural habit or a Sunday obligation. I mean really find Him — to close the distance between what I believe and what I actually feel, between the faith I profess and the trust I struggle to live.

This site is the record of that pursuit.

What you'll find here are poems, reflections, and honest thoughts… prayers really, born mostly out of silence — the kind of silence that can feel like absence, but that I have come to suspect is something else entirely. The writing here is less about answers than about the ongoing, sometimes aching walk of faith. Of coming back to the water's edge even when the water feels still in all the wrong ways.

Still Waters is not where I live. It is where I am being led.

For much of the journey I pulled on my own oars. Business and commercial life will do that to you — they reward self-reliance, celebrate the driver, and quietly convince you that momentum is the same thing as meaning. I bought into that for a long time.

But here is what I have slowly come to see: God is patient. He doesn't do well with part-time partnerships. He is far more interested in being part of the whole story than in making a guest appearance in the difficult chapters. And with each year that passes, I have come to recognize that even in the seasons when I was certain I was driving — God was quietly managing the controls while I toyed with an imaginary wheel.

That realization didn’t arrive all at once. It accumulated. Slowly. Humbly. And it’s still unfolding. That’s both maddening and an incredible relief.

If something here strikes a chord — if you find yourself in these words — I'd love to hear from you. Not as an expert. Just as someone a little further down a road you might also be walking.

Oh, and one last thing.

Still waters, as they say, run deep. If you’re looking for peppy, perky prose here, you won’t find it. Its bumpy and honest… I hope you tag along.
