One Day But Not Today….
At the altar once again Lord, knees bent and frail with tears
The world news so unsettling, emotions filled with fear
Eyes that scan your verses, restoring hopes seem lost
Events that overwhelm, as a boat at sea that’s tossed
A struggle for your longing, to wait it seems the lot
A simple glimpse of direction, to calm distorted thought
Onward aching silence, these words echo in dismay
“One day my dearest child, One day but not today”
So pleas reset each morning, to still a heartbeats pace
Assurance is within me granting never ending grace
To lean into a promise that have helped the scores before
A faith that grows through struggle and leads to so much more
Thoughts as a battleground that rages war within
And tempts with taunts of doubt, that usher paths to sin
Persist amidst the tangle, the promise made to all
What is seen is not final, a command to hold up tall
He hears our moans and groans and pleads to trust the way
“It will be soon my dearest child, One day but not today...”
