The Wait
It’s seems in the most desperate moments, God is the most distant.
Almost as if pleas for His presence are answered with more darkness and doubt
“Peace that transcends all understanding?” Not typically….
At best, it’s an interval... it’s a respite in the midst of battle
A place to lean your spear or rest your shield— a regroup for more to come
You want calm in the midst of chaos---expect a storm..
You want relief from a burden... watch the weight increase...
You want the answer to long yearned prayer... expect silence
It hurts, it can be so disappointing... but it’s real...
Here’s the truth---the life of faith is not plug and play...
Or whatever term our slogan rich society dumps on us
It’s sitting in it... it’s feeling it for what it is
It’s taking it all in and recognizing that struggle, hurt and disappointment are part of it.
And in that wake of turbid, turbulent water, God always, somehow appears...
You want some proof-- read the Psalms...
It’s all there— in great detail... God on call..but here’s the thing...
There is no distant train whistle or some page turn type of notice...
He just arrives...His timing... His moment.. for us...
Expect that.
