Endurance Prayer…
Oh dark of night, where restless thoughts quench peace that can’t sit still
And mounds of doubt engulf a heart and strength is stripped from will
Tangled sheets and pillows stained, damp with tears, torment and sweat;
The torrid knock, a beating chest, a rhythm filled with fret
Canyon gaps from rim to rim where reach and grasp, fail to meet
And prayer sounds a muted horn too faint and incomplete
Patience strains and hopes unsure, now peaks the crack of light
With welled up eyes, scarlett streamed from loss of fight and might
Peace moans to dawn where new hopes bloom like gardens oh so green
And turn to where one leans again with faith towards the unseen…
